There’s a wealth of social media out there and some of it is more suited to my needs than others. Being a visual person I find Tumblr and Instagram more stimulating that my wordpress blog so I’ll be closing this down over the next few weeks.

We are also working on a few exciting projects, the first of which is a new print. My first screenprint, it’s looking pretty special and drops in a few days. I’ll post more details closer to the release!

In other news, I’ve been messing around with oil paints. I’m really enjoying the challenges and opportunities of working with a new medium. As I (hopefully) start to get to grips with it I’ll be posting pic – I think the different approach to painting will add a new dimension to my work, but we shall see…

It’s looking like a really fun show, with a bunch of awesome artists in a great venue. Check it out if you are in the area.

I have 2 paintings on show, both are a little different to previous work (well, they feel different to me!) as i think they have more detail than I usually paint. I think having spent so much time sketching recently, the line work has started to influence the way i paint.

I’m really pleased with how they turned out and I’m hoping to mess with the balance of detail/mess in future work.

The show opens March 10th and is on view through April 7th and I’m honoured to be showing alongside John Park and Christopher Cuseo with 6 new paintings.

I’m really excited about the show and the new pieces. I approached it wanting to produce a cohesive body of work and worked through a bunch of stuff in my Moleskine before settling on an idea. Working around a theme of “Threads” I’m really stoked with how they’ve turned out. 3 of the pieces are also a lot larger than I’ve painted previously so I was working a little bit outside of my comfort zone!

And as my Moleskine was such an intrinsic part of the process, I thought it would be cool to mark the show by giving away one of the graphite studies done in preparation for the show. Apologies for the lack of updates recently, the blame lies totally with an addictive iPhone app called instagram. I’ve never been one for words so having something that’s picture based is a godsend! If you haven’t got an iPhone then you can follow my feed (assuming you have any interest in it!) here

As for recent activity, I’ve just finished and shipped the new work for the show at CAVE Gallery in LA next month. Massively stoked about this one, I’m really happy with the work which is unusual – I think it marks a real step forward so hopefully folks will like it. I’ll update the blog with some teaser images a little closer to the show.

And when I’ve not been painting, i’ve been filling a couple of Moleskines with doodles, drawings and ideas for another day. Again, terribly addictive. I’ve really enjoyed just letting the pencil find it’s own way rather than fretting over colour and composition. I think in the context of a sketchbook pretty much anything goes, so it make s a refreshing change and is very motivational too.

Having just finished my second Moleskine, I’ve taken the opportunity to make 4 of the most recent drawings available through my Big Cartel Store Pics below, but hopefully a great way to get hold of some original artwork at a reasonable price!

I’m excited to be showing a selection of new paintings @ George Thornton Art in Nottingham. The show runs 5th – 15th November and as well as the new paintings on paper, will feature some of the work I’ve done on different media over the past year.

Some wood panels, paintings on old drawers and doors and for the first time I’ll be making some original sketches available.

I’ve got a bunch of ideas waiting to start on once I’ve got the studio sorted. At the moment it seems like my paints are never in the same place I am, so having the sketchbook to hand has been a bit of a lifesaver.

I also took the opportunity to mess around a little with some digital work, I’ve not touched photoshop (to paint with) since last year – I had to try and remember what to do, but pretty happy with the results.
