I’ve just (yesterday) finished a new piece that I’m submitting for hopeful inclusion in the David Lynch themed show at Phone Booth Gallery.

I’ve had the brief since September and only just finished it with 2 days left before deadline. Yes, I suck. Even more so because I’d already completed one and decided it just wasn’t working – back to the sketchpad. Yay!

So this is the final one, well a detail anyway. Full pic and an explanation if it gets in. Wish me luck…

all about the black

I think I’ve gone a bit colour blind. Seriously, i stare at something I like and I cant figure out what the colour is, let alone put together a pallette for a decent painting.

So I thought I’d take a break and hit the black ink. Here’s a detail from one of the pieces I’ve been working on. It hasn’t got a name, yet, but I like it.

And I’m going to do some more of this inky collage stuff!

So again, an age since I last updated.

I’ve been working on some paintings of the non digital variety. Feel quite happy with how they are progressing. Still got a long way to go, but finally feel I’m getting a handle on a technique that works for me.

Until recently, i’ve been painting acrylics on canvas, but I got hold of some really nice paper from a supplier in london town, and I’m really liking the effect I get from building up washes of colour. With more confidence, i think they would benefit from me being a bit more messy. It’s those random “accidents” that make painting with “real” paint so interesting.

I think maybe I need to attack stuff more, but this’ll do for now.
